Start ’em young

This evening I also helped Thom, my grandson, get set up with a Blogger! account hosted on Blog*Spot. It all went pretty smoothly. It’s pretty easy to use for the non-technical person and Thom is ten years old.
He also wanted to have pictures in his blog but Blog*Spot don’t allow that. So we also set up a 50MB Tripod account. So now he can upload pictures to his tripod account and reference them on his blog. Cool!
I think he’ll also end up learning some HTML and doing some pages on his tripod account too.

A good evening.

Just got back from a pleasant evening round at Graham and Jackie’s.
Les and Stacia were there too. Barbecue for tea and sitting around chatting on the patio. Lovely!
Graham and the kids are sleeping out in the tent pitched in the garden tonight. We’ll see if they last the night 😉

Report Day

Jamie got her school report today. Excellent as usual! Her reading age is 11.8; that’s 11 years eight months and she’s still only seven! She did well in all her other subjects too.
Graham and Jackie came round tonight too. Their kids, Thom and Bekki have done very well in their reports too.
Another picture of Jackie. Getting famous! 🙂

So now we know that Mike Is

  • hooptyloops
  • a real card
  • Tonkas, tonkas and more tonkas
  • Cool!
  • Into the Lake of Fire
  • making money
  • a former LAPD narcotics investigator
  • supporting
  • healed from cancer!

BlogAmp

I’ve just installed BlogAmp which posts to my journal the last 10 songs I listened to in WinAmp. You can see the list in the right hand column.
I’ll see how it goes. I don’t normally use WinAmp for listening to CDs, instead I use Notify CD Player which displays the title of the current track in the title bar of the current window.

Work, work, work

Another very bitty day today! The one thing I had to do today, which I managed to start this morning, I never got chance to finish it! I’ve lurched from one thing to another all day long. Production problems, “Can you just do this?”, “Don’t forget to ring that guy from…”, “I know you’re busy but…”, “I need you to drop everything and write something to…” (this one from the big boss), “Can you stay late?”, and “Can you come in early in the morning?” Phew! And all this on top of the fact that the one thing I set out to do is not the thing I’m down on the plan to be doing anyway! I think I must have hit about 6 levels of interruption today (interrupted to do X which was interrupted to do X which was interrupted to do…).

And I love it! I really do.

And there’s not really anyone else who can do it. At least not as quickly, or get down to the root of a problem as quickly, or figure out the right fix, or… I’m not an arrogant person, but I have at least a decade more experience than the rest of the people on my team. I’m good at what I do.

So much so that I’m going to ask about redefining my role in the team tomorrow. We’ll see how well that goes down. But that’s after I’m in early to work some more on this production problem. And that’s after I’m just going to look at a couple of things tonight!
