Hmmm. looks like the recently updated B2 blogs list at cafelog.com is broken. It’s returning a 403.
I’ll have to remove it from my sidebar.
I wonder if Michel knows? Although I seem to remember he is away from his computer for a few days.

I’ve had a very stressful day today. I’m not sure exactly why, other than that I had a release to do, after I finished implementing and testing some new functionality. That dragged on a bit (some of the code I had to get working was terrible) and the decision to release without this functionality complete was made. And then having to find out what changes other people had done (for the release note), and then having to back out some of those changes coz they shouldn’t have been made on that branch! But, I got the release out on time.
I also seemed to be plagued more than usual by silly little interruptions today. Either emails or people coming round to my desk asking me something, nodding wisely at my answer, scuttling off back to their desk, and then having to come back and ask me to explain! If you don’t understand the first time, speak up! There and then! Don’t waste our time by pretending you understand and then having to come back!
Grrr
OK. I’ve looked into it some more now. Here’s the low down. It is now a members only book club. And I’ve realized, looking at the layout of the BOL site, that they have been bought by the same people who do Books For Children, Mind, Body & Spirit, and The Softback Preview. All of which I am a member. The parent company is Book Club Associates Limited.
And they don’t do CDs, Videos or DVDs anymore.
Ho hum…
What’s happened to Books Online? They’ve revamped their website. Which is OK in itself, but they’ve changed the system so that old links produce an error message now! Which is bad enough, but that error message contains what appears to be a link to their homepage, which doesn’t work!
But even worse than this they also seem to have decimated their stock! Most of the books on my recently read page cannot be found on the site. Update: Notice that all the images are still being served!
Barmy!
Hmmm… I think I should look at trimming my list of referrers in the left hand column.
But not now, I’ll put my Perl head on tomorrow and look into it.
Graham, whilst looking for some thing else, came across a couple of old photo albums, and brought them out to show. That got everyone very interested and he dragged a huge cardboard box full of old photos out of the garage. There were probably about 1500 pictures.
Much fun was had laughing at our younger, thinner, more hairy (and I don’t just mean the guys), badly dressed selves 😀
Here’s one of me from the mid eighties, when I was often mistaken for Lionel Richie, Not!:
And a more up-to-date one:
At one point Thom brought out his Chinese Hamsters, Itschy and Sparky.
Everyone had a go at holding them,
but then one of them ran up the inside of Paula’s sleeve!
I’m not quite sure how covering your eyes helped, but you were very brave Paula! 😀
Just got back from a fun day at Graham and Jackie’s. All the usual suspects were there. 🙂
We gave Thom a card an little present for his first day at high school tomorrow.
More food was sacrificed to the great barbecue in the sky!
We took Pepe with us this time and he enjoyed himself too. The girls did a lot of running around, and played in Bekki’s fun house.
