I’ve read quite a few books in the last few days. I seem to be reading exclusively children’s books. Mainly because I can’t decide which of my own books to read next.
The last few I have read are: Vampire’s Assistant by Darren Shan, Savage Stone Age by Terry Deary and Martin Brown, Harvey Angell by Diana Hendry, and I’nm currently reading The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. Continue reading

Net speed record smashed
From the BBC Tech News this morning; Net speed record smashed.
Scientists have set a new internet speed record by transferring 6.7 gigabytes of data across 10,978 kilometres (6,800 miles), from Sunnyvale in the US to Amsterdam in Holland, in less than one minute.
Cool! 😎 I could use me some of that bandwidth 🙂
The motivation for the record was the need to transfer and analyse the vast amounts of data produced by particle physicists studying the fundamental building blocks of matter…
During its research, Slac has accumulated the largest known database in the world, which grows at one terabyte per day.
Silly Blogger
Yay! Now Grahams’s got his new blog up and running. Go check out Silly Blogger!.
Miss Red Journal
Yay! Jackie’s new blog has finally gone live! This is the one I’ve had DNS trouble with. But it’s all sorted now. Check it out at Miss Red Journal. This is my first ‘proper’ design (in that it is more than just modifying CSS colours). Let me know what you think.
DNS Updated!
At last the DNs updated between 7 and 8 this morning! And the subdomains worked straight away. But… As the hostees in question haven’t announced their new blogs yet, I cannot announce them either 🙁
Soon I’m sure. Still it gives me a chance to get some more things done: I’ve got the automated backup working. Although I may try to make it incremental, as I don’t fancy mailing myself 20mb every day!
Domain Transfer
Blech! I’m really cheesed off waiting for my domain (not this one) to transfer! It has taken more than ten days to get it sorted so far. Fingers crossed the DNS should be updated within the next 12 hours.
Once it has updated, I’ll be able to launch my two new (not so new) hostees.
What A Weekend!
Phew! What a weekend I’ve had. I do not seem to have stopped all weekend.
Saturday
I started on Saturday morning, going to find a kitchen cupboard for my mum which would fit in with here new washer. I discovered that the standard depth for all these units is more than the depth of the units in mum’s kitchen! I also found out that the prices at B&Q are much higher than I was expecting, Continue reading
Cirque Du Freak
And I’ve just finished Cirque Du Freak by Darren Shan. This book was recommended to me by Thom, my grandson. It’s not the kind of book I would normally read; a children’s horror story, but it was surprisingly good. Still, it’s not what I would have read as a child!
Recommended for older children.
Update: The 12th book is out in the UK. As is the 3rd Demonata book. Click the covers to get ’em!
