OK, I’m finally convinced that what I’m doing is not a blog. So I need a new name for my journal.
Hmmmm…
The Neverending Story
I finished The Neverending Story by Michael Ende yesterday. What a good story! Much better than the film which, if I recall correctly only covers the first half of the book.
I’m on to Reave the Just and Other Tales by Stephen Donaldson now. I’ve already finished the title story which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Holiday
At last, I’ve started my write up of our holiday in Turkey. It’s not finished yet, but a start is good. 🙂
Java Exam
I took a mock Java Programmers exam today and passed! Only by a few percent though. But not bad for a first attempt. At least I now know which areas I need to revise!
Linux From Scratch – Kernel Problems (again)
More kernel compile problems. This time I get the error
cp: reading 'tlan.o': Input/output error
But this time I can’t find any references on google. 🙁
The file exists in the ./drivers/net/ directory, and I can copy it by hand. Strange. Ah well, I’ll try setting the build off again, now I’ve copied it by hand.
New version of Trillian
There’s a new version of Trillian out. Trillian is the ICQ™, AOL Instant Messenger(SM), MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger and IRC client. It’s an excellent IM client. It seems to be quicker and less resource hungry than any of the individual clients, let alone all of them together. Recommended.
House Corrino
I’ve just finished reading House Corrino by Brian Herbet and Kevin J Anderson. An excellent story. Some really good background information to the later stories. It makes me want to go an read the rest of the Dune series again. But I must resist and read some books I haven’t read yet. I’m currently reading The Neverending Story by Michael Ende and still in the pile are:
- Reave The Just by Stephen Donaldson
- Frank Skinner by Frank Skinner
- The Shelters of Stone by Jean M Auel (But I’ll probably have to read the whole Earth’s Children series from the beginning)
- The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera
- Plus a selection of technical books.
Final Fantasy
I’ve just finished watching Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within on my new DVD Player from Scan Computers. Awesome film, mainly for the technology, the plot is so-so, the acting less so, but the CGI, top notch!
