More merging

Just finished another merge and release. Yet again it was painful because of the page-caching hack.
I’ve just been warning one project manager to re-evaluate her estimates because that project will have to take this page caching into account.

This is not going to go away, it will be a maintainance burden for ever.

Woe is me 🙁

Left-Handers Day

Tomorrow is International Left-Handers Day 2002.

As a full paid up ‘south paw’ I shall be… erm… ahem… remembering.

Seriously, I had some problems growing up left handed; my writing is completely illegible even to me! I also could not use scissors with any success until a couple of years ago. Hopefully my daughter Jamie (who is also left handed) shouldn’t have as many of the problems I had. Her writing is already much better than mine.

There are still many, many tools, devices and situation that are only designed for right-handers.

It’s something to think about.

Camping

Jan and Jamie are getting ready to go camping on Wednesday. They were supposed to be going on Sunday but the weather was too unsettled.
I can’t go 🙁 I can’t get the time off work.

I’m sure they’ll enjoy themselves and bring back plenty of pictures.

Not Good News

From Slashdot:

UK Prepares Own Version of the DMCA

The EUCD (European Union Copyright Directive, the equivalent EU legislation to the DMCA) consultation paper has been released. It’s important that we give feedback to the UK government that this legislation will have a chilling effect on the software industry.

Here’s a link to story from The Register on Alan Cox’s campaign against this legislation.

There’s lots of information at the Campaign for Digital Rights.
