New Colour Scheme

Well, the new colour scheme is up. What do you think? I like these colours. They’re not really original (can any colour scheme be original), I’ve basically looked around a lot and nicked them. 😉

I’m still looking for a clean, css driven, preferably table-less, standards compliant layout. I’ve seen lots of nice layouts, but most of them seem to use tables, and I can’t really decide on one.

Contact

We’ve just sat and watched Contact with Jodie Foster. I’ve seen it before, but not for a while. A most excellent film. We really enjoyed it.

I love ‘serious’ Sci-Fi films like this. Ones that make you think. I must try to get hold of a copy of the book by Carl Sagan. I’ve only ever read his factual books before.

Recommended.

Broadband Outage again

My broadband access was out again for most of this afternoon. What are NTL playing at?
Quite an inconvenience this time as I was trying to do some work which required me to be able to connect to the office network. I suppose I’ll have to spend half my evening doing that now.

Jamies Website

We’ve been working on Jamie’s web site today. We made quite a lot of progress. Jamie has a good idea of what she wants and how she wants it to look. For an eight-year-old that’s really great.

We’ve got the initial layout of the first page done today. Lot’s of chopping up of images with Paintshop Pro. I’m beginning to think that I may need to have a look at a decent WYSIWYG HTML editor. One that is graphics oriented.

The trouble is, I don’t have very high expectations for their HTML output. Maybe they’ve got a lot better since I last looked at them. So far I’ve managed to do what she wants with css positioning. We’ll just have to see how complex it gets.

13.7 Million Pixels!

This Kodak Professional digital camera, the DCS Pro14n has 13.7 million pixels (4536 x 3024)! As well as all the features of a pro SLR camera, and 36-bit colour.

There’s also this awesome Canon Eos 1Ds (needs flash) at 11.1 million pixels! This one has some incredible onboard image control and manipulation settings.

Both cameras use huge full frame (24mm x 36mm) CMOS sensors. I’m going to read up properly on the technical specs. I have a tissue to catch the drool 😉

Theres an incredibly positive initial field report of the Canon 1Ds over at luminous landscape, which claims that for all practical purposes the quality is superior to film!

I’ll take one of each please! 😀

Computer Screens in Films

For all you geeks out there; you know how you get a tiny little thrill whenever there’s a computer shot in a movie (what do you mean that’s only me?); and then you get really disappointed when its completely unrealistic, you know text mode 40 x 25, but with a graphical button the hero has to click forcefully on.

Well anyway, I digress, I found this great computers in movies quiz over at Film Wise.

How well will you do? I got six, but there are three films I haven’t seen.

Link courtesey of MetaFilter

Update: I’ve changed the link to be the questions rather than the answers. *blushes*
