OK, I’m officially fed up with CSS and tweaking my style sheet. I’m fed up with broken browsers that don’t get the box model right.
So no more changes, until I redo the whole thing.!

More adjustments to the style sheet. There were problems with wide browser windows. That comes of having mixed percentage (relative) and fixed widths and margins. I’ve still not cleaned it all up but it’s definitely better 🙂
Daynah posted in the b2 forums that the calendar doesn’t validate. She reminded me that I’d found and fixed that bug but not reported it.
I’ve now posted my bug fix in reply to Daynah’s post.
Thanks to Steve P, I’ve remembered to modify the Tantek Celik style sheet hack section of my style sheet. Now the differences in layout between IE and Mozilla are quite minimal.
Well, the new (OK slightly modified) style sheet is installed. Generally things are a little bigger now. Hopefully more legible.
Some weird stuff though. Mozilla occasionally loses the bottom margin of a story, but not always. Also the space between columns is larger than it needs to be coz IE insists on getting it’s sums wrong and overlapping them.
I’ll see how it goes for a couple of days.
Comments welcome.
I’ve been looking for a cheap lo-res digital camera with which to take photos for this very blog. I’ve not had much luck so far. I mentioned this to Steve who remembered he had a JamCam they’d bought for Megan and which she isn’t using. OK I thought, I’ll try that.
Steve brought it round today, and I took a few snaps. In the sun, indoors, at different resolutions etc.
Much later I installed the software, installed the updated drivers, and installed the update to the application software. Three re-boots later and I’m ready to download the pictures and see what they look like.
No go! The software detects the camera, starts to download, “downloading thumbnail 1 of 16, 2 of 16…” and nothing. It sticks there and will not go any further.
I tried all kinds. I even cleared the camera, took out the smart media card, and took just one picture. Nothing. It refuses to download. I changed the battery. Nothing.
So I uninstalled the software (and Adobe PhotoDeluxe refused to uninstall) and put it back in the bag.
Sorry Steve, I know it works on your PC, but it refuses to work on mine.
I’ll keep looking.
I’ve been playing about with my style sheet. No, not on the live server, on the server at home. I’m trying to get rid of some dubious stuff, pixel sizes, absolute positioning, etc.
It looks ok in Mozilla, but Internet Explorer is giving me trouble. I can’t seem to find anywhere to specifiy the default font size in IE, only the font face. Hmmm Strange.
Jez Higgins from the ukbloggers mailing list has posted this info:
Morning all
You’re no doubt familiar with the GBLogs Recently updated list at http://gblogs.threadnaught.net/recent/recent_pop.html
A little while ago, I wrote a bit of script which retargets that list as a Mozilla and IE sidebar, http://www.jezuk.co.uk/cgi-bin/view/toys/recentUkSidebar
Well this morning, when I should have been trying to find a new contract (anyone need an experienced C++ developer?) I monkeyed up a bit more script to provide the list as an RSS 0.91 feed, which you can drop into your aggregator of choice. It lists the logs with the
two most recent timestamps, because the full list would be a bit much. The feed is available at http://www.jezuk.co.uk/toys/recent_gblogs.rss

Nice one Jez!
I’ve been meaning to look into displaying RSS feeds. After all, my site provieds one!
