Home Alone

Here I am home alone. Jan and Jamie and the dog off camping. Only me and the cat left.

Did I bring home a selection of Dance CD’s to play really load without hearing “Turn that rubbish off… all sounds the same… how can you tell them apart?”. Did I?

No, I did not. Doh!

To be fair to Jan she doesn’t actually say those things anymore. She just tsk-tsk’s a lot and thinks them 🙂

Aaaaaagh!

I’ve just been sat here surfing and reading blogs. Some time ago the CD I’d been listening to finished, Around the Fur by the Deftones. Or so I thought. The very last track as thirty-two minutes of silence before it! So I’ve been sat here in silence for half an hour when the last track kicks in. Loudly! I literally jumped.! My heart is still thumping in my chest. Jeez! I’m going to bed for a lie down now….

Reanimation

I’ve listened to Reanimation by Linkin Park a couple of times now and I’m not sure if I like it. Well, I do like it but as collection of remixes of tracks from their first album, I’m not sure whether I feel ripped off or not.

Great Music Site

I just found a really great music site: Epitonic. They have free samples and tracks of great music from all sorts of genres available for download or streaming. Including whole albums. It’s all good stuff, selected by their various editors. Everything from rock to electronic, hip hop to 20th century composers.
They also have ‘Music Genre Walkthroughs’, short streamed pieces explaining something about a particular genre. Can’t quite get your head around the difference between Techno and Trance? These will at least give you an idea and point you in the right direction to find out more.
They have message boards too, which mostly seem to be new artists and DJs promoting their new stuff (at least in the dance sections).
Go visit the site and sample some of the songs. Recommended! 🙂

Two great articles on MP3 downloading

I just read two great articles from household name artists on the issues involved in MP 3 downloading and the reaction of the music industry.
The first from Courtney Love in which she explains how the record industry and particularly the labels really do not work for the artists.
The second article from Janis Ian with a slightly different slant on the issues but with the same conclusions.
Both articles are quite long but well worth reading.
