Family Histree

Jan’s new website went live today: Family Histree. It is going to be a site to track and document her family history research and genealogical interests. Currently there is only a just-started journal, but eventually there will be a lot of information there. I am evaluating content management systems to use at the moment. Drupal and eZ Publish are looking favourites. I have given up on PHP Website as not really suitable for the type of website she will need.

Relaxing Day

I’ve had a relaxing day today. I built Jamie’s new Mini greenhouse and she and Megan planted some seeds and put them in the greenhouse (pictures in the gallery later). I got out Jan’s old bike and pumped up the tyres and fixed the gears so Kim can have it. Kim wants it to go riding with Megan on her new bike.
We spent a couple of hours just sitting in the sun chilling. It was nice and relaxing.

I finally got my bike out the shed and pumped up the tyres and checked the gears. It’s now been two years since I rode on my bike. Far too long. I went on a quick trip to the local park and back to check it was OK. I’ll have to get back into the habit if using it.
I used to cycle to and from work on it — 7.5 miles each way, and before that when I was working in Macclesfield, up to 20 miles a day on it. It kept me super fit.
I’m going to build myself up slowly so I don’t overdo it, but I intend to get back to doing 15 miles a day if I can.

Mothering Sunday

We’ve had a good day today. Jamie and I got up early (notwithstanding the Daylight Saving Time change!) and made Jan breakfast in bed. Jamie gave her her card and presents. Then we went out early to see my Mum, who is recovering from yet another cold.
Later lots of us went to the Shaandaar restaurant in Rusholme’s Curry Mile. There were 13 of us altogether, and it was pretty busy. We had to wait a while to get seated, but once seated and served, the food was good and everybody had a good time.

New Blogs!

Although they’ve been announced elsewhere, and I’ve had the links in my sidebar for a couple of days, I would like to formally announce Kim’s Korner, my daughter-in-law’s blog, and The Cat’s Paw, my daughter Jamie’s blog. These are the two designs I have been working on over the last week or so.
They are both hosted on zed1.net so access is intermittent at the moment 🙁
However, by the end of Thursday Zed1.net should be on a new server and I’ve been promised no more outages like the recent ones.

Jan Still Not Smoking

Jan has now completed her eighth day without a cigarette! She is doing really well. With her back problems keeping her bored in bed most of the time, she has managed to keep her resolve and stay off them.
Well done Jan!
