New Version of WordPress
WordPress Progress
I’ve just committed some huge changes to CVS for WordPress. There is some really cool stuff; most options are now stored in the database, b2config is gone, several path problems are now sorted out; option screens are now data driven, squirt a few rows into the database, and you have a new options screen complete with validation and help! Very exciting stuff. A word of caution, it may be worth waiting until I have written an update script before updating to the latest CVS version.

Geekiness Abounds
Christine over at bigpinkcookie.com has blogged about Mike and Matt IM-chatting over WiFi at a coffee shop in downtown Houston. In fact, as she discovered, they were chatting with me. Cool!
“I just had to snap this photo of Matt and Mike with my phone before we got down to business. I think they are actually IM’ing with each other, right here at the table. Ok, it’s an IM chat with a third WordPress developer who is in England.”
WordPress
We’re hard at work on WordPress at the moment, a beta version of 0.7.1 was released yesterday, and we are just dealing with some last minute issues.
Check out the announcement.
WordPress Review
There is a nice review of WordPress over at Fulton Chain Design.
“This seems like a very nice tool. While not as fully featured as others, it has the advantage of being lightweight, easy to understand and generates compliant markup ‘out of the box’.”
Some of the issues mentioned have already been addressed.
Weekend
I’ve had a good time this weekend. We’ve had very good weather which is nice for a change (unlike my prediction). Jan had got the paddling pool out. Jamie and Megan spent most of Saturday afternoon in it. We also had a barbecue on Saturday.
On Sunday, Jamie and I went swimming with Steve and Megan. In the afternoon it was back in the paddling pool for the girls. But only briefly, the weather had cooled a little.
In other news, my Mum is feeling a lot better, still getting lots of bed rest and thoroughly bored with it.
I’ve managed to get a bit of WordPress work done this weekend.
