Phew! I’ve finished The Valley Of Horses! It’s a fantastic book. I found it absolutely breathtaking in parts. In others it was so touching, I had tears in my eyes!
Recommended.

I read this series a while ago and I thought it was simply a platform for a feminist to air her views.
Very well written though.
Oh, I think it is much more than that. Don’t forget it was relatively recently that the early Christians took the power away from women. Before that the women were a very important part of the religious life of societies. Women were also the healers.
And whilst some elements of the books are pure fantasy, she is a meticulous and well respected researcher and has incorporated many elements of contemporary anthropological theory into the stories.
