UK Prepares Own Version of the DMCA

The EUCD (European Union Copyright Directive, the equivalent EU legislation to the DMCA) consultation paper has been released. It’s important that we give feedback to the UK government that this legislation will have a chilling effect on the software industry.

Here’s a link to story from The Register on Alan Cox’s campaign against this legislation.

There’s lots of information at the Campaign for Digital Rights.

BlogChalking Problems

I’ve had a couple of people tell me they had problems viewing my site yesterday. I think I’ve tracked it down to my BlogChalk icon.
It looks like Daniel’s site was being slow for some reason and this was causing the right hand column to be rendered up against the left hand column underneath the centre column. Not correct at all! I commented out the link and the problem went away.

Anyway, it seems to have recovered now so it’s back in: bottom right of the right hand column.

More IE strangeness

I noticed last night watching someone visit the site using Internet Explorer that the calendar was using a really large font. except for the days which have links. I’ve just looked at the style sheet and couldn’t find anything wrong. I’ve managed to fix it though. But only by specifying the font size in the CSS class. It seems that the default font size (specified for the body tag) is not inherited in table cells! I’m sure that’s not correct.

Calendar

I finally got around to playing with the new calendar in b2. You can see the results on the right. I needed to tweak my style sheet to get it looking how I wanted.
I’m quite pleased with the result.
