Interface

Interface by Neal Stephenson and Frederick George is one of those books which makes me want to do nothing else but sit and read it until I’m finished. Stephenson is a fantastic story teller. He pushes all the right buttons for me. I am seriously gripped by this one.

The Lives Of Christopher Chant

I’m now reading The Lives Of Christopher Chant by Diana Wynne Jones. This is the third book we own in The Chrestomanci Series. This one is much better than the second one I read. The story is much faster paced, and I really like the character of Christopher. So far this has been the best of the three.
Update: I finished this in the early hours of this morning. I was right; it is, by far, the best of the three books. A much more exciting plot.
Recommended.

Charmed Life

I’ve just finished reading Charmed Life by Diana Wynne Jones, part of The Chrestomanci Series. I really enjoyed it. It’s another kids book (11+), but I didn’t find it too simple. I liked the main characters, and the plot was good too. I wouldn’t rate it up with the likes of Harry Potter, but still, a good read.

The Trapp Family Singers

I’m quite enjoying The Story of the Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp. It’s the true story on which The Sound of Music is based (in case you didn’t know). The story is very different from the movie, and quite an eye opener. One thing I have noticed, is that it is very much a recollection of events and you don’t really get a feel for the characters of the children or any of the many friends they made. And why ever did they change (almost all) their names? You really only get Maria and a little of Georg. More when I’ve finished it.

The Adventures Of Corky: Corky In The Jungle

Wow! Jamie has written and illustrated a book which she finished yesterday. It is called “The Adventures of Corky: Corky In The Jungle”. It was inspired by a little cork man she made at Brownies last Monday. It is really well done. She has put a lot of thought and effort into it. Her Mum and I are really proud of her.
